Can't claim server

Server Version#: 1.32.3.7192

I just set up my Plex server (on an Ubuntu server and Docker/Portainer). When I first set the server up, I set it to not make it available outside of my network. Plex could find my server, but failed to claim it and failed to login. I can login, but it won’t let me claim the server. Clicking the “Claim Server” button within General Settings isn’t successful.

When I got to the “Remote Access” tab there’s a red warning sign saying that it can’t access my server outside of my network.

Looking at some of the other posts on this forum, my “Remote Access” tab is definitely not behaving as expected. General Settings also says I need to update my server, even though I set up Ubuntu’s package manager to handle that. Unsure if this is related, but thought I’d add it for completeness.

I would greatly appreciate any help with this. Thanks!

You did not use a claim token as described at GitHub - plexinc/pms-docker: Plex Media Server Docker repo, for all your PMS docker needs. ?

I’ve added the PLEX_CLAIM token, restarted my server for a first run, but it’s still failing to claim it.

do you have your docker set to use host networking?

Yes I do

I updated my Claim token because I think it copied incorrectly the first time. I didn’t see those fails as I did before, but I’m still not able to claim the server. I see a green lock next to the server name now.

It’s not docker related. I think it started when we needed our passwords changed. Regular synology package cannot be claimed. Nvidia shieldtv cannot be claimed, windows server cannot be claimed. It has been driving me nuts honestly. I think it has to be tied to the plex account and as I have a lifetime pass it’s not so easy to just make another one.

So we need to reset the password to fix this?

have you looked at the sever logs after trying to claim?

Changing password does not invalidated existing auth tokens unless you specifically tell it to. Meaning simply changing password will not sign you out of or unclaim a server.

Here you go. Looks like it times out when trying to talk to plex.tv

Appreciate the help

…after months with this issue I finally claimed the server. I changed my DNS from google to quad 9 because of the connection issue. Is this all it took to solve it? I guess. Maybe Alphabet hates plex.

This is my log when I restart my container. I see that libusb_init failed. It stops to claim to the server, but when I go through the Plex GUI, it fails to claim still.

Stopping Plex to claim server

I’ll try to switch my DNS to quad 9 & see if that helps.

I’ve made a lot of changes since the last update. It’s working now. Not entirely sure why.
I ended up reinstalling the OS and clearing the Firewall settings on my PC.
