When I try to watch a 4K movie it does not run. When I look at the logs I see this:

I can’t find out why this happens but I’m sure that if I enable hardware accelerated transcoding it will help. I installed the 64bit latest version of Plex like said and my DS218 Play supports hardware transcoding. Why don’t I see the option in Settings > Transcoder? How do I enable this and how do I solve this problem?
Yes, but 4K files often have audio formats that your TV can not handle. TRy using alternative audio tracks from a Title. Example: AC3, Eac3, non of those HD-MA 10 bit 7.1 channel files
What version of the Plex LG app is on your TV? It should be listed in the app settings.
For audio, choose either AC3 or dts audio tracks. No TrueHD, dts-HD MA, or 7.1 audio of any type.
Make sure you have subtitles disabled. They can cause a video transcode (see below).
Check the settings in the Plex LG app. Make sure both Direct Play and Direct Stream are enabled. Also, set any bandwidth limits to Original/Maximum.
Regarding subtitles & Plex SmartTV apps: Enabling PGS or VOBSUB subtitles forces a video transcode. If the audio is transcoding, enabling SRT subtitles also forces a video transcode.
I’ve let it load for a while and it started to play. Even with TrueHD audio but it just takes longer. I assumed if my PC can’t handle it for that reason it must be the same for the TV too but I didn’t consider that I am running it in the browser. Thanks for all the help guys now all thats left is the slow loading but I don’t think there is anything to do about that.
I just wonder one more thing. After I start the video once, I don’t have to load it the second time. How does this work? Does it cache that on the TV or put that version on the server? I want to know because maybe then I can pre-load a couple movies and watch them later.
Default action for Plex is to stream/transcode videos in real-time (or as fast as the server permits). They are not queued/stored/etc on either the server or client.
Plex does have an option for Optimized Versions. This will transcode the movie in the background and store it on your server. See Media Optimizer Overview for additional information.
You should not use Optimized Versions for HDR media. Transcoding HDR media in Plex destroys the HDR information. Also, Plex does not perform HDR to SDR tone mapping, so the colors will appear washed out.
Some Plex clients - mobile & Plex for Windows & Mac - have the ability to download the media for local, offline playback. This is not supported on SmartTV nor streaming box (Firestick, etc) devices.
