Can't find any speakers on plexamp headless

Server Version#: 1.42.2.10156
Player Version#: Plexamp Headless v4.12.4
NojeJS Version#: v20.18.1

Hello, Yesterday I managed to install a Plexamp Headless player on my Ubuntu LXC on a Proxmox instance (Ubuntu 25.04).

It arrives to see my Plex library, but it doesn’t play anything. When I go to Settings → Audio → Audio Output, I see a blank screen:

And if I click on the Cast icon, I just see the Headless player, witch plays nothing as it doesn’t have an audio output connected:

On my network I have some Yamaha Musiccast devices (WX-010), that I can see on my router and on my Music Assistant (Home Assistant) list of players, and it can stream to them without any problems.

Also, on my Music Assistant, I can see the Headless Plexamp player, but again it doesn’t play anything.

Is there anyway to connect it to my Musiccast devices?

Thanks in advance for your help,

Best regards,

Marc

Ok, I manage to advance a little on my problem:

On my Music Assistant instance, I installed a plugin “Plex Connect”, that allows plex players to see the speakers as an audio output. It seems to be working, as when I launch Plexamp on my phone I can see and stream my music to the speakers.

Another thing that I noticed is that on my phone, I can see the Plexamp Headless to stream to.

On the other way, the issue still persists: when I log to my Plexamp Headless, it can’t see any of my speakers or even my phone’s Plexamp player.

Knowing that they are all in the same network, is there anyway for me to debug the issue?

As I said, my Plexamp Headless is installed on a Ubuntu Proxmox LXC…

Thanks in advance for your help,

Best regards,

Marc

Plex headless is intended to play to audio devices local to the computer on which it’s running.

Hello, thanks for the answer.

These last days I notice that I can see my phone’s app on the list, is it normal?

On the other way, why have a “cast” option, if it is only intend to play on the “local computer”?

Your phone can be remotely controlled, if you have that functionality enabled.

It can cast to other instances of Plexamp.

ok, thank you for the reply :+1:

And happy holidays :slightly_smiling_face:
