Can't find secure connections setting on iOS app

According to this page the iOS app should support secure connections. I don’t have an iOS phone myself so I can’t really go through the app and look for it, but my friend certainly can’t find it. I tried to find it using the settings article for iOS, but it doesn’t appear there either.

Am I missing something or is there no way to turn on secure connections on iOS devices?

The iOS client should connect to your server based on the server’s security configuration. There’s no extra client-side configuration.
