Can't fully uninstall/reinstall Plex Media Server

I can’t fully uninstall/reinstall Plex Media Server. I’ve followed the directions in this article:

I then reinstalled Plex Media Server as the computer I’m doing this on is going to use another Plex account. Ran into problem #1, as the new install of Plex Media Server automatically tried to log into the old, original Plex account on the computer with no “log out” or “switch account” options available. That problem was solved by clearing the browser cache and cookies.

At that point, the new install of Plex Media Server allowed logging into a new Plex account, but never went through the typical Server creation windows (choosing libraries, etc). I’m now stuck in an endless loop of being told to download Plex Media Server again, and if I do run the install again, I’m told it’s already installed and if I should Repair or Uninstall. Repairing does nothing but force me to reboot my PC, then go back into this endless loop. Uninstall and re-install goes back to square one again.

Hi Smiling_Maybe,
There are different ways to unistall Software on Windows 10 (thanks to legacy support there are dozens).

  1. You can start by tapping the Windows key, typing in Plex, right click, then uninstall.
    2.Or by going to settings, Apps, PMS, Uninstall.
  2. Or by tapping Win-key, then typing in Control Panel, then Programs, uninstall a program, then uninstall Plex.
  3. For more manual uninstall go to your installation directory (C:/Program Files/…) and open Uninstall.exe.
  4. Even more manual: delete “C:/Program Files/Plex Media Server” (or similiar) and C:/Users/[your Username]/AppData/Local/Plex Media Server and, if available, C:/Users/[your Username]/AppData/Roaming/Plex Media Server.
    Still didn’t work? Try soft resetting Windows, called “Fresh Start”. Did anything help?

I am experiencing the same issue. I had someone steal my account I have had setup for years and change the email/password on me. After recovering my account, my server could not be reached by any means, so eventually I just deleted it and tried to create a new server. Now I am stuck on the endless loop described above. I sign in and launch through plex.tv site. It doesn’t go through the usual setup of creating libraries. It just wants me to keep installing plex media server again. I’ve used every method of un-installing, repairing, rebooting, clearing the registry items as suggested in other post. My Plex is basically useless as of now.
