Recently upgraded my hardware and did a clean install of Windows 11 (24H2) along with other software including Plex. Everything seems to be working fine with plex except for two things: commercial skip is not working and scheduled tasks run for hours and never seem to complete.

Before the update and install of Win11 and plex, the commercial skip worked fine and honestly I never really paid attention to how long the scheduled tasks took. On the new setup I had the scheduled tasks set to run from 00:00 to 03:00 and they were not finishing. I changed to time to 18:00 to 23:00 to see if it would complete. It did not. My library is not terribly large - probably less than 500 movies, maybe 700 TV shows (DVD Rips), and about 250 LiveTV shows. From what I can gather the commercial skip happens during a scheduled task. I don’t know if that specific task is not completing or if it is failing. FWIW, the Intro Skip and Credits Skip work fine.

I’ve glanced at some of the log files but I have no idea that to look for. The scheduled tasks are running right now and as soon as it stops I’ll attach the log files to this post.

Thanks in advance for any help anyone can provide!

Ad detection is definitely running, and it’s finding commercials for some episodes but not others. These were logged back-to-back:

Given the failure to success ratio (I didn’t count, but it seems to be 2:1’ish), I’m curious if you have OTA recordings and rips mixed the same library. Or if it’s really missing ads in that many episodes.

Anything Star Trek related, Mythbusters, and From the Earth to the Moon are all DVD rips and therefore would not have commercials. NCIS, FBI, Sheldon, Tracker, and Magnum are OTA recordings and should have commercials.

The folder structure is like this:

They are all in the TV Shows library. This is the same structure that worked before the upgrade. Sorry, I didn’t think I would have this problem so I didn’t capture any of the logs or anything from the old setup.

Any ideas?

Okay, I’ve managed to get commercial skip to partially work. I think I changed Ad Detection from “For all items” to “For recorded items” and now it partially works. If I use the Plex app on my PC it works fine with any account. If I log in with the admin account on any TV (Hisense [x2] or Visio) it works fine. If I log in with any other account on any TV the commercial skip does not work. I checked settings until I’m blue in the face and I cannot seem to find anything to fix this. I need HALP!

No takers?

This now seems to be a server issue. Should I re-post this in Plex Media Server?
