You basically have to manually update it. The issue is that they basically shutdown the ability to update/install programs after they sunset a version of the OS. My FreeNAS is based on FreeBSD 9.3 I believe and that is no longer supported so I can’t update via the “normal” method. I have updated manually a few times based on directions I found on the forums, but there is a risk involved.
I’m attempting to move to a vanilla Linux server but I’m having some hardware issues and time issues.
