I’m having an issue trying to add the original Blade Runner movie and the latest one, Blade Runner 2049. I’ve been trying a few things but nothing works. Plex wants to consider both of them as a single one or will simply ignore the second one I put in the Movies folder.
The original one is named “BLADE RUNNER.mkv” while the other one is named “BLADE RUNNER 2040.m4v”.
Anybody has any idea?
Try adding the release year to the movies (or just the new one as a test):
Blade Runner 2049 (2017).m4v
Adding the year helps Plex disambiguate when there are multiple potential matches. You will likely want Plex Dance Blade Runner 2049 after making the file name change.
Also, check the tags of the .m4v file to ensure there’s no title tag with bad information.
Finally, there’s some guidance in the naming and organization docs regarding how to include the TMDB id in the file name to further assist Plex with matching.
To follow up @pshanew, this works on my system:
/movies/Blade Runner (1982)/Blade Runner (1982).mkv
/movies/Blade Runner 2049 (2017)/Blade Runner 2049 (2017).mkv
As mentioned in the support article, if using the Plex Movie scanner & agent, you can also add the IMDB or TMDB id to the folder & file name. This tells Plex the exact movie with which to match the media. The ID overrides the folder/file name.
