Can't initalise media server stuck in loop - X-Plex-Token=local

Server Version#: 1.32.6.7557-1cf77d501
Player Version#: N/A

Hi, I was having problems with my Plex server so completely uninstalled it and deleted all files including the registry keys in order to have a fresh start using these steps in the plex troubleshooting guides.

https://support.plex.tv/articles/204281528-why-am-i-locked-out-of-server-settings-and-how-do-i-get-in/

https://support.plex.tv/articles/215609417-windows-local-plex-web-app-times-out-or-never-loads/

When I then install the latest version of Plex Media Server it starts and immediately tries to launch on the host but it is just showing me the Plex logo with a looping circle below it and it keeps refreshing the page with title “Getting Ready” and I can’t seem to proceed further. That is using the https://127.0.0.1:32400/web/myplex/launch?X-Plex-Token=local-xxxxxxxxxxx address.

Here’s the screenshot of where I’m stuck.

I did try closing that tab and trying localhost:32400/web and it will load the Plex interface but still get no access to the server settings.

Please help - this is driving me crazy, I have tried everything for days, removing and resintalling to different locations about 10 times.

Any ideas of what to try next or a fix?

Hi, I managed to fix this myself so posting in case anyone else comes across this bizarre problem.

I looked in the logs and it was repeatedly saying that it could not connect to plex.tv on port 443 so tried a telnet ping to that address and port and it failed.

I could connect to the internet fine via a browser (port 80) and I had no firewall installed (or so I thought).

I then noticed in network settings that it still had an old eset firewall listed which wasn’t loading on boot etc as it had expired. I tried it uninstall eset which failed so needed to download their uninstaller tool, boot into safe mode to completely remove all drivers.

Then on the next boot Plex server connected and worked perfectly!

thank you for this, it helped me solve my issue, mine was caused by windows firewall but same thing. it was being blocked outbound
