Can't log in to forums after changing my email address

I changed my email address for my Plex account (using email, not Google or Apple), and it’s working fine. But whenever I try to log in to this forum, I get this error:

The change you wanted was rejected.

Maybe you tried to change something you didn’t have access to.

It looks like the link between my main Plex account and this forum is broken. I tried:

  1. Open a new browser that I’ve never used before and has no saved logins
  2. Go to plex.tv and log in
  3. My password and 2FA are accepted, and my profile shows at the top right dropdown menu
  4. Go to forums.plex.tv
  5. Click on the Log in button at the top right
  6. The above error appears

This happens if I use an incognito browser too. I can tell my main Plex account is working fine because authentication works when I use these steps instead:

  1. Open a new/incognito browser
  2. Go to forums.plex.tv
  3. Click on Log in at the top right
  4. Pick “Continue with Email”
  5. Enter my username, password, and 2FA code
  6. A message appears showing a successful login and it tries to redirect me back to the forum
  7. The above error appears

I thought it maybe takes time for my email address to update between Plex and this forum, but it’s been a few weeks and this is still happening. How can I fix this?

Please send me the old account’s email or Plex user name per PM.

There was already a forum account which used your “new” email address. It had 0 posts and was about 6 years old, so I deleted it.

I assume if you close your web browser and clear its cache, everything should rectify itself when you open it again.
