Can't open Plex app on Android when no internet or in Airplane mode

The Plex app will not open on Android if there is no internet connection (or if in Airplane mode). It just displays the Plex logo like when you start the app, but the main home screen never comes up.

Running Android 12 on a Pixel 6.

I’m going to be flying next week, so I was getting a bunch of my music library downloaded so I could play it offline. When I went to test Plex offline, I tried both turning off wifi and mobile data, and also tried Airplane mode. Both methods resulted in the Plex app not starting.

I know this wasn’t a problem a couple years ago (the last time I flew), but now it doesn’t seem to be working. Anyone know what’s up?
