Can't pause live TV for more than 5 minutes

I have an amazon fire tv stick using the plex app, a windows 8.1 laptop with gigabit ethernet running the latest plex media server (1.10.1.4602) connected to a gigabit ethernet router. The TV stick is connected to the router using 802.11n (5 GHz band) and is about three feet from the router. I have a HAUPPAUGE WinTV-DualHD TV tuner connected to the laptop. When I pause live tv for more than 5 minutes and then resume playback, after about a minute I get a weak signal error on screen and playback stops. I have to back out of the Plex app on the TV stick and select the channel I was originally watching again, thereby losing all of what was recorded while live tv was paused. If I pause live tv for less than 5 minutes, playback resumes and I have no further issues including fast forwarding and rewinding unless I pause again for more than 5 minutes.

I love Plex for watching recorded media and have no problems with that; it’s the live tv portion that is giving me issues. I have looked at the Plex log files and don’t see any errors during the time I get the “weak signal” message. Is this a Fire TV issue or a server issue? I also use the Fire TV stick for Sling TV to watch cable channels and I have no issues there (i.e. no weak signal issues).

Update: I bought a roku ultra which includes an Ethernet port and no longer have issues.
