As suggested by Frank, here’s a separate thread for the same issue on LG’s - LG cannot play AVI files

Given that they appear to be same issue on the surface, just different platforms, I’ve also posted a link to this thread in the new LG thread so it’s easy to cross-reference if needed.

Hi same AVI playback issue was reported in LG plex app and the latest LG WebOS version 5.6.1 contains “Fixed playback of AVI files”

The thread said the plex app was forcing an unneccessary transcode of AVI which would explain the issue I reported, as my DS216PLAY does not support hardware transcoding, has that fix been deployed in the Samsung app yet ?

I am still running 5.1.0 and AVI playback is working.

I’ve got no issues here with AVI files. Can I get a sample if you’re still having issues?

I just re-enabled early access and my Plex app updated to 5.9.2 I am able to play the AVIs now that were not working on 5.1.2

So looks like the AVI issue I reported got fixed somewhere between 5.1.2 and 5.9.2

Hello, I have same Issue on my Phlipis 58PUS8505/12. I have two tried things that helped me:

  1. Allow on PLEX DLNA and watching over Local Network implemented in Philips TV.
  2. Install on TV Kodi and Plex plugin. Run Kodi, go to Plex plugin and I can watching on all, what in original Plex after update not working.

With 5.11.1 plex version, I’m still unable to play avi file.
