Cant run plex server

Hello.

First i would like to thank all forum posters, i learned so much about plex, OSx and bunch of other stuff! Thank you all!

But still, i can't solve a problem that is bothering me from yesterday

After 1 year of running plex first on my macbook and later on on my mac mini i have a problem. All of a sudden apple TV was showing just computer and settings icon and i found out ATV3 was not connected to the internet, after few router and ATV resets i was stuck. I last restart ATV said i need to make a iTunes restore (via USB).

After restore i found out that ATV won't connect to the internet if DNS is se to manual to IP i used for plex connect.

So i started to work on plex connect on may mac mini. I deleted all files and started all over with guid on github.

I made certificates and everything went well but there was still no response on ATV. Later on I tried to lunch a demon with

cd "/Applications/PlexConnect-master/support/OSX"

sudo ./install.bash

and I got

Operation already in progress

72     0       com.plex.plexconnect.bash

eaven if I restarted Mac mini and tried all over

After that I tried with

sudo "/Applications/PlexConnect-master/PlexConnect.py"

and I got

[Errno 48] Address already in use for port 443, 80 and 53

I fined all PIDs of preceses using there ports with

sudo lsof -i :443/50/80

I found that safari that DROPBOX is using 443 and safari is using 80 and 443 there was also PMS on 443 and python on all 3 of them.

and killed all of them them with sudo kill -9 (PID) and got stuck here

there is nothing more, and if I press CTRL+T I get

load: 1.52  cmd: Python 1718 waiting 0.00u 0.00s

I spend like 20 hours searching for a guide or a solution to get me out of this misery but i was unsuccessful. I must admit i am average or below average user of Macs but i am trying my best. Im even biggest amateur when talking about networking.

In case of emergency I'm ready to make a fresh install of OSx, but i would do anything before that.

I would really appreciate your help.

Regards

Alex

My feeling is that this is more appropriate to be raised in the Apple TV PlexConnect forum

You can stick around for a while - but if you decide to want to move it to the PlexConnect forum where all the expertise is for Apple TV PlexConnect, then click on the report button and ask for it to be moved

Thanx for advice!

I will wait for a day or 2 and then ask for moving the topic as you suggested.

Even if it is a Mac issue - the PlexConnect experts will tell you what that is

Update,

i just installed plex connect on my macbook and it seems i can access all my movies. So there is a server running somewhere ?

Alex

...if you installed PlexConnect as a daemon chances are it is running fine - even after a reboot.

You can run

sudo launchctl list | grep plexconnect

to find the task... if running it should come back with something similar to the line you posted above:

>> 72     0       com.plex.plexconnect.bash

A number other than 0 in the second place would indicate an error.

PlexConnect will forward all your aTV's requests to your PMS. From your description, I guess yes, it is already running somewhere...
