Can't save DVR files to library

Server Version#: 1.22.3.4523
Player Version#: 4.54.5

I’ve been searching around for hours now and trying all sorts of different things. I just don’t understand why Plex says it’s can’t write the DVR recordings to a library mounted over CIFS from my Nas4free server. I even changed the plex user’s shell and was able to create files & directories from the command line as seen below in the screen shot. But the write error still shows up in Plex when I tell it to save a DVR file to the library pointed at that mount point. Any ideas?

That doesn’t make much sense.

do you have the logs where this occurred ?

Yeah I turned on debugging and tried having it move the show to the library…

Thank you . There were no errors (permission denied) of any kind in that.

Is there a way to make it happen ?

Hey Chuck, thanks for helping me out on this so quick yesterday. I figured some things out overnight. Originally, the CIFS share had been set to auto-mount via the fstab as the ‘systemd-network’ user. The permissions were 0777 even with that user owning it, but that first DVR recording couldn’t move over there.

So yesterday, I stopped the plex services, changed the user/group in the fstab to the plex user and re-mounted the share, then restarted the plex services. Still couldn’t get that original recording to move. But last night before going to bed, I set a single episode to record and chose the same library I’ve tried moving the old recording to. Just checked it this morning and it appears to have worked exactly as expected.

So it seems that even though I can go into the problematic recording, and select this new library (with the plex owner), it still can’t move it. There must be some old setting/information persisting in that old one that keeps it from moving over. Not a biggie in this case, it was my first shot at doing any DVR stuff, as we mostly just use the live TV part. I’ll go delete that old DVR schedule and re-create it so the old settings aren’t hanging out in there.

Anyway, I thought I’d throw this in here in case anyone else runs into a similar issue. Thanks again for the help on this.
