Can't sort movie library on nvidia shield app

Server Version#: Version 1.14.1.5488 (EDIT: updated to: 1.18.3.2129)
Player Version#:7.26 ( I think. all nvidia shield apps are up to date)

the plex app on nvidia shield (2017 model) doesn’t appear to have any way to sort my movie library. It seems that other people have a “Sorted by” tab, but it’s not present on my system. It used to be there until after the most recent UI update(s). I can only select movies/folder view. I don’t have the alphabet on the right side, either.

I haven’t been able to find any other instances of this bug anywhere. what can I do to get this option back? Is it a known issue?

It should look something like this:

The alphabet selection usually only shows once your library has a certain amount of items (e.g. it’s currently not showing in my library of shorts with approx. 25 items, but it’s showing in my regular movie library)

Edit: Question… which version of the Plex Client is installed on your system?

my shield app has none of that when I select “Library”. Just a drop down to select Movies/Folders. then the alphabetically arranged list of movies.

my web app looks like your picture.

I have over 1000 movies.

My plex client is: 7.26.0.14578

is this a movie library or one for Other Videos?

movie library

Interesting note. I have two Plex servers running. One on fedora that I have migrated away from using, and my primary one that is running on a freenas system.

There fedora server has sorting on the shield app, where the freenas does not. The fedora server version is: 1.14.1.5488

I recently updated to the latest version of Plex media server on freenas, and am still seeing the same issue. It is now: 1.18.3.2129

Do you have the same problem if you switch to Movies view? You’re currently in Folders view.

yes. I’ve tried both.

I have also checked my mobile apps and my windows 10 app. both work fine. It’s just the nvidia android tv app

It may be worth uninstalling from the Shield and reinstalling again.

Couldn’t delete it from shield, but rolled back the updates then reinstalled the latest version.

Seems to have corrected the problem. Strange issue.
