Ok, am I the only person that has to set the recording time 45 minutes after the end of the program? I am talking about NFL football games, they run late all the time, and nothing worse than having the end of the game cut off, so I set up the recording to run 45 minutes longer, you’d be surprised how many times this has allowed me to see the end of the game.
The problem is that when you schedule a recording to run long, the TV Guide stops showing you the recording. Which means there’s no where you can select it to start or continue watching. So I have to wait until the recording completes 45 minutes after the original stop time. Super frustrating that you can’t see a program that is currently recording. During that time window.
Why not feature programs that are currently recording in the “On Deck” section?
I was literally coming to ask about the exact same behavior. I tend to set shows like 60 Minutes, that perpetually follow NFL games that just won’t end on time, to record long, like 60-90 minutes past their end time.
Like you, I’ve noticed that once the “scheduled” time in the guide passes, you’re stuck waiting on the expiration of the extended recording time, even if the show has completed airing. It’d be ideal if there was a way to stop recordings in process.
I did find that you can go to the DVR section and cancel a recording, but that will cancel not only the in-flight recording, but also the schedule for the future, so you’re then left having to re-schedule a series recording just to stop one that expired. It’d be great if either from the Dashboard or the DVR Schedule an option were present to stop a recording immediately.
Yep, yet another stupidity that I’ve been complaining about for over two years. One of the most basic expectations of a DVR: “Watch a program in progress” and you can’t do it. I should warn you though: complaining about it, trying to explain the issue clearly, appealing to basic common sense all appears to be a complete waste of time with Plex. In two years, the only “major” thing that they finally fixed was the stupidity of treating Prime Time starting at 5:00 rather than 8:00
