CarPlex

Or whatever better name you can come up with.

This might be already on your roadmap, given the quest to have plex everywhere, but with the oncoming slew of infotainment systems coming to cars, it would be great to have some sort of Plex integration.  Google is pushing hard on this and I would imagine the current Android client could be adapted with some work.  QNX is also making some good grounds with Apple's Carplay (powered by QNX) as well as its own offerings.

Having a Plex client that can play the media on the unit, as well as sync the media when it comes into range of your home wifi (or over cellular) would be awesome.  The QNX/BB concepts even have video screens that can be used for video in the back of the car so it doesn't have to be restricted to music syncing only.

Technically this should be very simple, as most of these systems will contain app stores. All we would really need is an ability to skin our own Plex for different jobs. The actual apps themselves shouldn't need much tweaking since Apple will go with iOS for Car, then Android will still be pretty much the same, or it may use a Jolla Sailfish platform, then you can sideload Android apps anyway.

Therefore it should be theoretically possible to actually use Plex already.

That's my thought as well.  Though there may be some additional work needed for voice command integration that most of these platforms are using.

in my eyes the same. Just not based on Android. If I use the plex app on my jolla the battery is empty in about 2-3hrs. But if I listen to a normal music player it lasts almost a day (12-20hrs). And thats not my only reason, why I prefer a native sailfish app.

The car thing could also be setup with a profile. Like they already did in the app. You can choose mobile, Google TV and direct play. So why not have profiles of usage.

Sailfish navigation is so much more intuitive and therefore I would love to see a plex sailfish app.

I have an android head unit in my car with plex, runs just fine :)
