For those of us that have a massive music library, It would be fantastic if the PLEX app would be compatible with Android Auto or Apple CarPlay. That way we can stream our own music and not have to worry about dealing with the limitations from Spotify, Pandora or take-your-pick-music-streaming-service.
I didn’t see this anywhere in feature requests, except for someone wanting PLEX to work for specific cars. I think this is a better and easier option to implement.

I recently upgraded my car’s head unit and would also love to see CarPlay functionality implemented into the iOS Plex app.
From what I would understand, there may be some push back from Apple in regards to video playback, but if a lightweight music only interface was used, that would be perfect!
Agreed. Got a new car with Android Auto, but I did realize that when I plug my phone in for navigation through android auto, Bluetooth streaming from Plex would stop. So now its either music or navigation. Having a Android Auto Plex app for music would be awesome.
Really hope support for this is being considered. More and more new car models are stating to support Android Auto or Apple CarPlay as a standard feature.

I have the same issue with my new Honda Civic. If I want to use Navigation with the dashboard, I can’t use Plex at all, only other audio apps that are supported (Spotify, Google Play Music, etc)…
I would also welcome CarPlay app with support of audio and video, since I have dual zone video output, it would be nice to be able to play video to my rear screens for kids to watch something on long trips.
