I’ve got a custom metadata agent loosely based on the YouTube-Agent, which correctly sets cast info / images, but on the new Experience apps they don’t show up at all? In the browser all the data is there, but not on my Android.
Has anyone else encountered this, or has issues with this?
I’m assigning the cast on the metadata.roles using metadata.roles.new().
I know plugins like this are unsupported now but this is the only way to get the data I need, and for it to be working in Plex web/Desktop/TV, but not mobile is a bit irritating!
I have the same ‘issue’ using the antiquated ‘XBMCnfoMoviesImporter’ and ‘XMBCnfoTvImporter’ agents. Ever since the new iOS & Android app versions, the entire cast & crew category is missing in my various Plex libraries on my iPhone and iPad. Plex is aware of the Cast & Crew info though, as in my various library screens I still get the “top films by actor/director” recommendations from time to time. They just don’t show up on the actual media details page.
It does show up in the third party Plezy app so I’ve been using that instead of the official apps on iOS and iPadOS. Interestingly they don’t show up in Infuse either (even on AppleTV in this case).
Like the post above I realize these plugins are unsupported now but for me this also the only way to get the data I need. I hope NFO support does arrive in 2026 as suggested elsewhere on the forums. Or someone comes up with a new-style agent that provides the same capability.
Hm, I’ve just got mine up and running by modifying the example tmdb provider, and it’s functioning well.. but the new experience apps still don’t have Cast & Crew listed.
Is it because they’re manually built cast, rather than being pulled from Plex’s sources?
