Category (genres) for MUSIC Libraries

Wondering why Plex doesn’t show categories for music libraries? It should be auto populated from the ‘genre’.

Specifically I am building an audiobook library and wondering why there is no category list.

You seem to have to open an item then click on a genre to see more of that genre BUT thats just so silly…

It’s in the Filter dropdown:

They do. You have a PLEX PASS so use PlexAmp.

What I don’t get is why it doesn’t show all the genres that are in my tags. I have “local metadata preferred” selected in the music library, yet there are genres in my music which are not available for stuff like Genre Radio in Plexamp.

The OP doesn’t appear to have a Plex Pass.

Yes I do have plex pass. I’m using the web app.
Why isn’t it showing the same way films categories are shown.
It’s retarded to get me to use another app just to view my genres or categories.

It’s literary done for you filled in via a pre filled in tag all you have to do is go ‘print music genre’ or similar.

Did you even look at the screenshot album?

It’s about user experience. Why isn’t it the same…

This would be an absolute winner for audiobooks to show categories

Movies

Self generated Movies category tab

Music no categories tab

Pass users’ TV and movie libraries automatically generate a “Categories” tab to display the genres of content in the library. However, this feature has never been available for the music library. As mentioned by others above, I also hope that a “Categories” tab will be added to the music library. While users can create smart collections or playlists using filters, I still believe there should be a native “Categories” tab for genres.
