Server Version: 1.43.0.10492-121068a07 Player Version: Plex Web 4.156.0
Hi everyone,
I’m trying to understand why the “Categories” tab is missing from my Movies library on Plex Web, while a friend of mine has it showing correctly with what appears to be an identical setup.
The problem: When browsing my Movies library, I only see the following tabs: Recommended, Library, Collections. The “Categories” tab (which allows browsing by genre) is completely absent.
What makes this strange: My friend is on the exact same hosting provider (ultra.cc seedbox), running the exact same Plex Media Server version. He never changed any settings — everything is default. He has the “Categories” tab showing correctly.
When he shares his library with me, I can see the “Categories” tab on his library just fine. But on my own library, it simply doesn’t appear.
What I’ve already checked/tried:
-
Metadata agent is set to Plex Movie (not Legacy)

-
Scanner is set to Plex Movie

-
Created a brand new Movies library pointing to the same folders — same result

-
Refreshed all metadata

-
Same Plex server version as my friend (1.43.0.10492)

-
Neither of us has Plex Pass

-
Movies do have genre metadata (visible on individual movie pages)

Has anyone encountered this before? What could cause this difference between two seemingly identical setups?
Thanks in advance!
