CERT: incomplete TLS handshake from [::ffff:192.168.1.1]:58888: sslv3 alert certificate unknown (SSL

Description: My Plex server is configured using remote access with a custom certificate configured for my domain. When I attempt to access the server, I receive the following error:

This server could not prove that it is library.joshamilton.net; its security certificate is from *.fdec925f4fc54deb94abaa9755a13c14.plex.direct. This may be caused by a misconfiguration or an attacker intercepting your connection.

Server version: 1.32.0.6973-7000 on Synology NAS 7.1.1-42962
Player version: Plex Web 4.100.1 accessed via Google Chrome Version 113.0.5672.92

The Plex Media Server logs give this warning:

DEBUG - CERT: incomplete TLS handshake from [::ffff:192.168.1.1]:58888: sslv3 alert certificate unknown (SSL routines)

Logs: The app logs are attached, retrieved immediately after clearing the cache and restarting the server.

So far, I have tried the following:

  • deleting the Plex Media Server cache
  • creating a new certificate using the IMPROVED method described here
  • delete all authorized devices and reclaiming the server

@ChuckPa It looks like you’ve been able to fix this issue before? Can you help?
Plex Media Server.log (76.4 KB)

Settings - Server - Network - Show Advanced.

Turn IPv6 suport (at top of page) OFF

SAVE the changes.

Your LAN is IPV4. No way to support IPv6 and screw up the plex.direct cert.

Restart the server after saving the changes.
