Hi folks,

Recently my PMS has become very unstable. I notice every few days it just stops responding. This is always led first by extremely slow access times. My first thought would be physical, but it’s a newer, larger hard drive that’s been there for a few months now without issues.

The only thing I changed recently was that I enabled remote access and guest user, but those have since been turned off. Usually a restart of the NAS will fix the server being down, but access times (i.e when I click on a video) have been quite poor. It just states “working with server” a lot, and it never did that before, even with the same files I’ve played countless times. The NAS is not reporting any errors and I’m on a relatively fresh install of plex.

I checked the logs and this line plays heavily:

Nov 26, 2020 13:24:56.526 [7868] DEBUG - CERT: incomplete TLS handshake: wrong version number

There’s also some XML errors that show up there too. I attached the logs for perusal since that seems to be the first thing everyone asks for

I would appreciate it if anyone had some ideas or something for me to try. I work in IT so I can at least move the mouse around and left click :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Thanks in advance,

Alex

Hi there,

Thanks for your reply. I’m trying to do a database repair, but I can’t seem to find the right directory. I enabled SSH access and can access with PuTTY, but I can’t find $PLEX_HOME. The SQLite downloads page doesn’t seem to have a CLI download either so I’m at a loss. Is there a way I can just start from scratch without losing my files? Would that be easier?

Thanks,

Alex

@trumpy81 , thanks for getting back to me. It’s been a long few weeks (new job) so I’m just picking this up today. I was able to delete the database and restart plex. Part of the slowdown was that apparently I didn’t give myself r/w access to the plex folder, so I was going nuts trying to figure out where the heck the folder you listed was! Eventually I came to my senses and looked at permissions

I will monitor this fix and see if it was successful. Thanks again for your help.

Alex
