I have well over 100 .tif and .tiff image files that Plex will not display. I get this message from the Plex Windows desktop app when attempting to view these images:
I am unsure whether this issue is rooted with the server, or the client app. I mostly use Windows desktop apps, and the server in question resides on a QNAP TS-453D NAS. All software is fully updated. Performing a search for this issue within Plex forums I found a few threads with similar complaints (I’m on a few of them) but no resolution. There are some older posts talking about file size, and .TIF vs .TIFF extensions, but none of it yielded any results. The example above is under 4 MB so it’s clearly not file size related. I have noted that most, possibly all images in question are 16 bit color depth and uncompressed, labeled as RAW by MediaInfo, but definitely .tif/.tiff format, Those files are all generated using astro photography imaging software AstroSurface.

Windows happily interacts with all of these files, giving me preview thumbnails in Explorer, and being recognized by all relevant Windows apps as valid image files.
Anyone else run into this issue? If it’s all a bridge too far for Plex I will have to find another photo viewing solution, which of course won’t be integrated into Plex, which is what I use for every other type of media that I own. Thanks in advance for any help!
