Changed folder structure ...now it's day 4 of "detecting intros"

Is there a way of moving files or changing folder structure or creating a new library category without triggering unnecessary thumbnail generation and intro detection of files that already had this done?
I feel this is unnecessary added wear and tear on my SSD.

Server Version#:latest
Player Version#:

Following the procedure layed out in this support article didn’t trigger a new intro detection for me.

Will try that next time! Thanks!
…I used to leave old location temporarily while adding new locations. Then thought that was unnecessary and not a big deal if I have to regenerate some thumbnails …and meta data seemed to transfer over …until I did that with my growing series collection! intro detection is more intensive process then I realized!

So I followed the instructions from that guide …and now it’s generating new video thumbnails.

I copied content to different drive (needed to free up room), turned off “empty trash after scan”, shut down server, deleted sub folders I had moved, turned server back on, added new location. Scan started automatically and it started generating new thumbnails.

Did I delete my sub folders prematurely? Guide is not very clear …it says “your content may not be available yet” which implies original folders were deleted?
“Open your Plex Web App and you should see your libraries, though your content is unlikely to work yet.”

I was under the assumption since I turned off “empty trash” that even if files at original location weren’t available (like what happens when ever I have a drive disconnected while server is running) …that all of the associated data would be preserved.

I did not remove any old locations because I was moving sub-folders.

…so I guess I just need to make sure movies are detected in both locations 1st? …then delete old folders. Guide is very vague in that regard.
