Changing Email Address - Query

Hi,

I want to change the email address that’s associated with my Plex account. If I go to ‘change email address’, it asks for email address, password and verification code.

Is that the password and verification code for the new email, or is it the current password and verification code? because neither seems to work.

I know this has been asked in the past, but I couldn’t see an actual explanation.

Above, but note that the password is the password on your Plex account, and not like your Google password

If you can’t remember your password or are otherwise having trouble accessing your account, you can make use of our “Forgot your password?” page (https://app.plex.tv/auth#?resetPassword) to have the password reset to a known good value. If you request more than one reset email, please keep in mind that only the reset link in the most recent reset email we sent will work. In some cases, that newest email may not have arrived yet. Requesting a new reset will invalidate all previous ones.

Thanks dane22, so to clarify, you put your ‘new’ email address in the first box, the second box is your current plex account password, and the third presumably is the 2FA plex code (I have 2FA active)?

Well, then you already have a Plex account created with the desired email!

To change the email address on the main Plex account, you will need to:

  1. Use a Private/Incognito browser window to sign in to the second XXPLEXADDRESS2XX Plex account
  2. Go to the Account page (https://app.plex.tv/desktop/#!/settings/account) and then change the email address to something else
  3. Back in your regular browser, sign in to the XXPLEXADDRESS1XX Plex account
  4. On that Account page, you can then update the email address to be the desired XXPLEXADDRESS2XX
