I have a number of files that are being identified as 720p simply because they are a couple lines short of true 1080p. For instance, I have a movie from 1974 that is 1894x1060 that is being listed as 720p rather than 1080p (there are other examples). Is there a way to manually adjust this?
No, there is not.
It is however a pure “cosmetic” issue. The decisions, whether “direct play” or “transcoding” is possible, are based on the real pixel dimensions.
While it may be a purely cosmetic issue to you, I often choose NOT to view movies simply because they are not listed as at least 1080p. Why a video file that is 1894x1060 is listed as 720p when it is SO close to being 1080p is beyond me. It really makes me wonder what algorithm Plex uses to determine what file is what resolution.
This is NOT just a one off file either. I have many more that I consider misrepresented as well.
