The preview layout is more one handed friendly for sure. But only for right handed people. Top right is your avatar, watchlist, stream/player/casting icon, and search.
When you select your avatar to get to profile, settings etc, the blade comes in from the right that is awesome for right handed people but if you are left handed you have to stretch across the whole phone which becomes difficult or in my case impossible to reach depending on the phone size.
There should be an option to flip the top bar so that favorite libraries is on the far right and avatar is far left, and for the menu blade can com in from the left side so left handed people can gain the benefits of one handed use.
Which client are you using? On (relatively recent) iOS devices you can enable an accessibility option which allows you to assign a gesture, tap, or button press to an action. In particular, the “Reachability” action slides the entire screen down so that apps’ UI actions at the top of the screen are available lower down, making them more reachable. Perhaps there’s something similar for Android devices?
I’m not suggesting in any way that your request is without merit, by the way.
I’m on Android. There are accessibility options on Android as well. I haven’t used those features. I tried for a time with some random other apps and it just didn’t work for me.
As I was using the preview my initial reaction was oh man, they moved the hamburger menu from the left of the screen turned it into the avatar and put on the right, and then I couldn’t reach the avatar or menus with my thumb as I held my phone left handed.
Not like I spend a lot of time in the settings. So the placement is out of the way and its not accessed alot so this is not really a big deal. But its a bit of a stretch or impossible using left hand one handed to reach the search, casting, and watchlist as well.
I can see the Plex team wants to take a different design and limit the number of menus and submenus for a more streamlined experienced. Anyway, not sure how much of a lift it is or even if there is enough of a reason to code in the ability to mirror the layout through a toggle. But I thought it would be a nice unique ability built into the app that would make it a bit more smooth for one handed use for left handed people.
