Choosing metadata sources when fixing a match

Ever since the newest update whenever I try to match or fix a match the only source for metadata that it offers me is Plex database. What happened to the Movie Database option? There have been quite a few times over the years where I had to use it instead of Plex’s because Plex couldn’t find or get what I wanted right. How do I access it again?

While I don’t know about PMS versions where this might have changed or the limitations now, I can suggest when you have a problem matching that you search IMDB or TMBD and use one of their unique numbers in the folder and movie filenames as described in this Plex Support Article.

https://support.plex.tv/articles/naming-and-organizing-your-movie-media-files/

You’ll end up with something like

/Movies
   /Batman Begins (2005) {imdb-tt0372784}
      Batman Begins (2005) {imdb-tt0372784}.mp4

or

/Movies
   /Batman Begins (2005) {tmdb-272}
      Batman Begins (2005) {tmdb-272}.mp4

This works for TV shows too.

How do I find out what the IMDb or the TMDB number is for a particular movie or show?

They are appearing in your browser’s URL bar when you go to the page of the movie on either website.
