I’m trying to manually match two movies but can’t get it to work.
I’ve matched hundreds of movies with no problem, but these two are being uncooperative for some reason.
The first movie is Beauty (2011). When I do a manual search, Plex Match finds the movie But after I select it, Plex keeps loading metadata for American Beauty (1999).
I’m having the same problem with Circuit (2001). Plex Match keeps adding metadata for Short Circuit (1986).
I’ve verified that the movie data is listed correctly on themoviedatabase.org and that I’m using the correct spelling and year. I’ve also tried using Plex Movie instead of The Movie Database.
I moved and renamed the files so they wouldn’t be associated in any way with the old metadata, then emptied the trash and tried a new match for “new” file. But I get the same error.
I just tried with Themoviedb and Plex Movie and it worked fine in both cases. ( for moviedb it was not top choice but was in there. if you are using the search options make sure to not put the year in the title field only put it in the year field.
You can also use the imdbID number in the title field
I had tried using the imdbID recently for a couple other movies I was trying to match but didn’t get any matches, so I thought that feature might have been deprecated. But it worked for me just now, so that helped fix a different problem I was having today!
It didn’t solve this problem because match was having no problem finding the movie, it just wasn’t adding the metadata to Plex.
Then, by accident, I stumbled on the cause just now. These two titles, for some reason, had the wrong movie poster and metadata embedded in the actual mp4 file. I used mp3tag to remove the data from the file and then ran match again and it finally worked!!
