Are there any plans to make a Plex app for Chrome OS?? My eldest kid (7) has just started to use a Chrome Book at school this year and it would be really cool if there was an app instead of having to use the web client - which works great BTW.
How would something else be “cool” if what there is now “works great”? Just curious… (In other words, be careful what you ask for, a lot of the clients don’t work so great…)
You can get a Kodi APK on Chrome OS and just install Plex on Kodi. Think it as a temporary work around until Plex makes an official version for Chrome OS.
Also if the web version works great then why do you need a version for Chrome OS?
For me, an app would be much improved as that would open the potential to serve and/or play from local storage. A Chromebook w/a 2TB Samsung T5 hung off it that was set as the media store would be absolutely wonderful for super long flights.
So not the use case for Plex. Your use case describes using VLC perfectly.
Incorrect. I use Plex local sync exclusively for the long flights on which I frequently find myself. VLC has essentially no UI; I don’t see how that’s even a comparison.
Same. Like you I am still hoping for Plex on Chromebook that can use an inserted chip for storage.
