So in the lounge I have Chromecast plugged into the HMDI input of a surround system, and the 5.1 surround plays nicely.
However, in the kids bedroom they also have chromecast plugged into their TV (which only has built in stereo speakers). On these TV’s I have to turn the volume to the max so I suspect I am losing audio channels, and sure enough checking Plex Dash it says that the audio is being sent in 5.1 format.
Is there a setting I am missing on either the Android Plex App (used for the streaming), the Chromecast settings (as the recipient) or something else so that the Plex server will downconvert to stereo for sending to the bedroom TV and Chromecast combo? (NOTE I don’t want to change the Chromecast profile for ALL chromecasts, since the one in the lounge still needs to work as it currently is.
I has assumed (perhaps naively) that the chromecast would detect it was connected to a stereo TV, and then inform Plex that it could only accept stereo streams, and Plex would work its usual magic, but obviously something isn’t working quite right…
Thanks!
