Chromecast Audio to speaker group stutters and general connectivity problems

Server Version#:1.32.7.7621-7000 (synology DSM 7.1.1-42962 Update 6)

Starting a playlist and streaming to a Chromecast speaker group problems:

  1. I must start the playback on the phone app and then connect to the speaker group - otherwise, no sound and player doesn’t advance.
  2. Once playing, only the first song works OK. After that, the google nest mini starts to stutter or won’t even play anything.

For reference, I can stream from other apps on the phone to the speaker group without any issues - Eg: Pulsar+ which is streaming from the phones local data source to the same speaker group.
Everything on my network and all my devices are up to date with the latest firmware from their respective manufacturers.
If I play to only one speaker, it works fine. Can also stream over the internet when in my car without issue (although it occasionally gets disconnected and I have to force start, clear cache, etc) I mention these to indicate that it doesn’t appear to be related to network performance but specific to plex app → Chromecast speaker group.

What devices are part of your speaker group? I have a combination of Nest Audios, a Google Home Max, Nest Minis, JBL Link Portables and a 2nd Gen Nest Hub. I have significant trouble with PlexAmp if my Nest Hub is included. With the same group playing from Tidal directly works fine. If I remove the Nest Hub from the group then PlexAmp works.

I will also say that I have trouble if I try to dynamically add/remove devices (by editing the devices in Now Playing in the Home app), but that trouble persists with Tidal as well.
