Hi folks -
This is a problem both in Plex and Plexamp - the exhibited symptoms are identical.
Plexamp (and Plex) work great for audiocasting, however the larger my speaker group is, the more the application begins to lock up and freeze. (It’s very consistent and repeatable.)
- Independent speakers: it’s great
- speaker groups of 3 or less: it’s great
- somewhere around 5 or 6 speakers in a group: starts to get a little wonky
- full whole-home audio group (12 speakers): it freezes the app completely.
This has been consistent for a long time. I, at first, blamed my chromecast audio setup - but soon realized that literally every other app (Roon, YT Music, Pocketcasts, NPR One, RadioParadise, etc) all play correctly across all my speaker groups and any combination thereof.
My speakers are an eclectic collection of cast devices: Chromecast Audio, VSSL amps, Nest Speakers, Nest minis, Nest Hubs. Again, all of my other apps deal with all of these cast devices is literally every combination.
Is anyone else experiencing this? This has been happening to me for years.
