Chromecast - Live TV & Movies - Sorry! Something went wrong

Wondering if anyone else is having issues streaming the Live TV or Movies content that’s hosted by Plex for free.

This was working perfectly for the last month and now suddenly it’s stopped.

I’ve factory reset my Chromecast, updated all applicable software, rebooted my network. I have not factory reset my network as I feel like that would be overkill.

I’ve tried using the “only supported method” to trigger the Live TV content: in a Chrome browser from the plex.tv.app and I get the same error “sorry! something went wrong”.

Playback from my own server content works fine. All other android apps that cast do so without issue.

As a technology troubleshooter this is extremely frustrating because there is no way to know where the failure is coming from. No error codes, notes, logs, etc. to look at. Just, suddenly it just doesn’t work one day.

Thanks for any insight or expertise anyone has to help with this. I have done lots of reading about this issue from posts in years past, and more recently. I know I’m not the only one having this issue.

As of today this has resolved itself. All streaming is working on my devices again.

Mystery remains, but entertainment reigns supreme once again.
