Cleanup bundles stuck at 75%

Server Version#: 1.32.6.7468
Player Version#: all

Plex media server installed on a synology ds920+

my plex server keeps getting stuck at bundle cleanup at 75%
it is cleaning 154 bundles but wil stay at 75% for days
the only way to get out of this is restarting the PMS
but when the clean starts again manual or thru tasks the cleanup gets stuck again.

before the media scanner was getting stuck at some media files, the reason for that was that some video files where recognised as encv and some audio as enca

i replaced the video and audio files with h.264 mkv and the scanner was working again

but now as mentioned the bundle cleanup is giving problems.

anyone any idea how to solve this

I’ve not seen it hang like this but you can safely restart it.

I would first Control+F5 to refresh the browser and confirm it’s not the browser being goofy.

it is not the browser, when i refresh it is stil stuck at 75%.
when i shutdown my computer en turn it on 2 days later it is still at 75%

the only way to get rid of this at the moment is to restart PMS and than it is only gone untill it starts the cleanup again.

When you next restart, Please download the logs ZIP file and attach it here for me.

I suspect a database corruption

Do you need a fresh log file after a server restart or when i made a restart and do a bundle cleanup?

If you can grab it now, that works too.
I’m hoping to see the failure happening

here is my log file

@GMTolboom

Do you have something which is writing into the area where your media is stored?

I’m asking because as soon as it finishes scanning, it starts again.
Also , Do you have ‘Partial Scan’ enabled? It would save you a lot of time.
Lastly, do you have anything which is hard-setting permissions (scheduled task?) ?

Yes i have partial scan enabled

i have security camera’s recording 24/7 with survaillance station,
but they do not write in the plex media folder.
i have one scheduled task but that is a S.M.A.R.T.-test wich runs every six months.
i did add a lot of media the last few days but the problem with the cleanup was there before that.

Can you please turn off all automatic scanning for now ?

I very much need to see it completely settled.

It looks like it’s running scans over and over and over.

It’s also doing credit and intro detection which takes a long time.

i disabled the auto scan a few hours ago and just got a new log file
the bundles cleanup is not running at the moment because i restarted the PMS yesterday because when it is stuck doing cleanup i get performance issues

i can start the cleanup manually later if you need a log with the cleanup stuck

Plex Media Server Logs_2023-09-16_12-52-36.zip (4.4 MB)

i started a new cleanup manual and the bundles did go down but it stil gets stuck at 75%
it now wants to clean 83 bundles

i also added the new log file about 10 minutes after i started the cleanup

Can you stop the playback activity while you’re doing maintenance ?\

Your logs show it going to this point and stopping:

This might come down to copying the DBs and Preferences file then letting it pull completely fresh metadata.

If it comes to that, are you willing to try if I give instructions?

i can give that a try altough it wil take some time to get the fresh metadata for 1141 movies and 16239 tv show episodes.

when i just looked i saw that cleanup was not running so it finished on its own.
this never hapend in the last 3 weeks.
so i tested again with manual cleanup and this finished in seconds.

i went to dsm and saw that periodic data scrubbing has been done last night.
maybe this has something to do with it.

i did grab the log after this
Plex Media Server Logs_2023-09-17_08-51-22.zip (5.0 MB)

I was cheering to soon, the cleanup now works fine but now the movie scanner is not.
when i add a movie it is recognised but it does not find any match, when set to plex movie scanner.
when i change it to TMDB it is working fine.
