Hello
Could the search function be improved
As it is now you click on the search button and a box opens ready to search
Type a query and results appear
All good so far
If you do a search again the box opens and the previous search is there
You have to click on the x to clear box then u are able to search for new item
Why not have the previously search item highlighted so that if you want to search again for this all you have to so is press return
If you want a new search just type as normal and the previous highlighted search item disappears with the newly searched item - no need to click the x
A bit like in the chrome search box if u click the box it then highlights the current web link in blue and you can type a new search or click return to refresh page
It would just make search a bit easier
Plex will remember previous searches and offer them if you want to get back to those.
Do I understand your suggestion correctly that you simply want Plex to clear the search field whenever it’s no longer selected / focused (presenting the recent searches as they currently will be displayed when you manually clear the field)?
Yes its a bit hard to explain
When I click on the search icon the first time I can input text straight away
I then click on the result and review the movie details
I then click on search again as I want to search something else and the previous search is in the box - I then have to have to click the x to clear it - which seem a pointless extra task
If I click cancel rather than click on the movie to review it the input box clears
Sorry I should have said this is on iOS not desktop
Below is the result I get on a second attempt of a search
I have clicked on the magnifying glass and The Italian job is still in the box so I need to click x to clear before new search
Hope I am making sense

Understood – I suppose the current behavior is trying to allow users to easily return to their search results if they drill into some of the result items (requiring you to click the x to start a new search).
I got your point and the suggestion is perfectly valid… just trying to share my take on how it works today (and why). ![]()
Thanks @paulplexOK for the suggestion and thanks @tom80H for helping to clarify things here. I am passing this feedback along to our resident search expert to review!
