Client-side profile selector comes up too often. Even if just switching apps or going to lock screen

I don’t think this needs Server logs, seems to be reproable client-side.

App: Iphone Plex.Tv

  1. Create more than one profile (enables profile selector).
  2. Open Plex on Iphone.
  3. Select Profile.
  4. Browse to a media.
  5. Start playing the media.
  6. Press the power button to go to the lock screen.
  7. Resume lock screen. See that the profile selector comes up. Selecting the same profile brings you back to the same media where it was paused.

An alternative to steps 5-7 is just to swipe up and switch apps to something else. Then switch back to the Plex client.

Honestly I wish all of the Plex clients saved my last-used profile into local storage so I wouldn’t have to choose profiles constantly. But I can live with selecting it every time I start up the client.

The bigger bug here is that the selector screen comes up too often. This may be intended but it’s fairly annoying and I can’t see a use case where a user would switch apps and come back to their Plex and actually switch profiles in the middle of a media.

Switch to the admin profile.
Go into the app preferences
Enable “Automatic logon”

Thanks, certainly a workaround though I think the original dubious UI-flow still stands.

It’s not dubious but fully intended, by user request.

Is it though? I checked all of my other streaming apps, Netflix, DisneyPlus, Hulu, HBOMax, all of which I have multiple profiles in the account, and not a single one of them will reprompt on lock screen or app tabbing. Is it really the best user experience for PleX to do this?
