This is an issue that’s been occurring for the past day or two - not been an issue before. I suspect the last two app updates are the cause.
Issue:
Start playing a video, within 5 minutes the login profile screen show up (not the username/password but the profile/user select screen). The video will keep playing back behind the profile overlay. No buttons are pressed while playback is running that could trigger this by me.
Selecting the active profile, inputting my PIN code will remove the overlay and show the video.
There have also been instances where playback will be randomly interrupted by a Playback Error “[existOrThrow] Value is undefined or null!” message which brings me back to the video select screen.
I also noticed this as of today (haven’t used my Plex in a couple of days as I was upgrading the drives in my NAS). I was watching an episode and all of a sudden the “Select profile” screen appeared while the video kept playing in the background.
Same here since last week or so. Logs out after five minutes while watching. That combined with transcoder crashing when rewinding more than two minutes, and at the end of every video. Plex has become completely unusable. Do the developers even use their own work? This is getting ridiculous.
I also want to disable this log out entirely, it’s just annoying.
It’s likely the client or the server - Seeing as the issue is happening on Samsung as well. The issue is not happening on the server when launching the web application from there.
I hope the devs read the forums. If not, the point of the submission template seems kinda moot.
What version is the client on your tv? On LG the client version show completely different within the app vs when it’s shown in the app installation options on LG
I can verify that the problem is happening on my LGTV as well. I decided to try on my Xbox Series X and see if the problem is the same, and it does the exact thing, so this looks like a server issue, since it happens on two different devices. Ever since the web login to plex.tv, this app has been nothing but problems. We should be able to just go over our home network.
I’ve found a solution.
I believe the latest client changed how the screensaver is triggered.
My app/client was set to Screen Saver: Never. After I changed to 30 minutes, the issue has gone away.
It might be as simple as just setting the screen saver time to something different, but I’ll leave it at 30 minutes as this works for me.
