Collections - AppleTV - Cross Library Support

I have seen multiple posts on this topic spanning back at least 3 years. The issue still persists for the AppleTV client.

I have a “Movies” library, and a “Kid Movies” library. I add movies in “Movies” to a “Holiday” collection. I add movies in “Kid Movies” to a “Holiday” collection.

From the web, I enter the collection from either library, I see both collections. From AppleTV, I only see the collection for the library in which I currently am.

It sounds like this issue might even be specific to AppleTV as I see lots of other threads suggesting many other clients don’t have this limitation/bug.

Can we get this fixed???

Which version of the Plex app for Apple TV are you currently using?
From what I’m seeing, the behavior is slightly different…

  • Public release (8.45)
    • A collection shows no same-named collections
    • Items which are part of one or more same-named collections will list all those collections as hubs
  • „New Experience“ Preview (2025.30.0)
    • Collections list all same-named collections from other libraries
    • Items which are part of one or more Sam-named collections will list all those collections as hubs (same as the public release)

The above only applies to classic/regular collections. Smart collections won’t list same-named collections as hubs.

I’m currently using Version 8.45 (9684).

In that case it appears the future release of the new experience version will provide some improvements for you.
