Just today, my Plex Collections have randomly doubled themselves. I had organized them all with art, backgrounds, and descriptions and now they’ve created duplicate versions without all that chosen metadata. The problem is all of the original collections’ contents have moved over to the less aesthetically pleasing collection option. When I click the original collection with the nice collection artwork, I get an Error message. I can delete neither version of the collection. Any idea what happened here?
Same thing happened to me. Each movie collection was duplicated with the latest update. One collection has all of the movies in the collection I made the other says zero movies in it. If I delete the collection with zero listed, it also deletes the movies from the one listed with the correct amount of movies in it. Also, when I add a new movie and tag it to a collection it gives me an error and doesn’t save.
Anyone have a fix for this?
Yes, this is my exact problem!
I also have the doubling issue and some of the collection can’t be edited.
Update next day
It seems the collections are now locked both the original and the falsely created ones from thew last update. I need the developers to look into this bug asap. How can Plex release a new version with type of bug. My library is almost unusable.
Same issue here on 1.21.3.4014 (and the version before it).
When are the Developers going to fix the collection duplication issue, From one of their releases???. You cannot make any collection edits, while this BUG is present!. They really worked up Plex with this release!
I give a rating of D- to the Plex developers for the last update Version 4.54.5.
The last Plex update Version 4.54.5 allowed SOME of the duplicated collections to be deleted, while some duplicated collections can not. The duplicate collections came about from an earlier update several months ago and is still bugged.
A second issue of Version 4.54.5 is Safari web browser does not show the login GUI for PLEX PASS Login.
Last update half ass fix the collection issue and broke the Plex Pass login in Safari.
Again Plex needs to give users a easy link to undo new versions releases and go back to a previous version. So far every version this past year has either not fix bugs or have added new ones.
To me Plex is rapidly becoming the server not to use. I have already explained to people asking Plex becoming very buggy.

After posting the Collections duplicate Problem. I see the bug is not Fixed!! I still Have Plex generated collections that can not be deleted.
Let’s curb it down a notch… you keep posting this in all kind of related /unrelated threads. Which version of the Plex Media Server do you have installed. The issue that prevented collections to be deleted was fixed in the 1.22.2 branch which is available as a public release for some time now.
Doesn’t mater anymore I have found a server that works and does collections correctly. Emby is by far ahead of Plex. Collections happen the way it should. Emby displays the cast portraits. I’ve been waiting for Plex to fix this for years. Emby took less than 10 min to setup, without all the complexity Plex. And it just works as you would expect a server to.
