There are a few existing requests for this, but none have any votes. It would be more impactful to add your vote to an existing request than to create additional requests.
I just started playing around with Plex and have been a XBMC user. One thing I’m missing is the easy ability to view my movies in an organized fashion. In XBMC this was accomplished by movie sets where I could group Action movies, Star Trek movies, etc together. I know this can be done with Collections but their are a couple steps in navigating to this view where I would prefer it on the main menu. Today, the only options appear to be the ‘on deck’ and ‘recently added’ views on the main men…
This suggestion builds on the terrific collections overhaul suggestion made by @truthfulie . His suggestion, however, lacks detail on how the user would get to his collections interface.
I suggest an option within Plex settings to elevate some of what are considered Plex filters, (eg: collections, genres, directors and actors) directly to the main menu such that they could optionally appear along side playlists and libraries. So now that there is a useful collections function, please make it easier to actually VIEW collections.
Please add collections as a virtual library node, like for example playlists is.
Where it is specifically located on the main library node, doesn’t particularly matter to me, above/below playlists, or at the end of the user libraries, whatever.
Please make it optional, for those who don’t want to see or use collections.
