I am running Plex (latest build) on a 2017 NVIDIA Shield Pro. I noticed recently that my ‘Collections’ tab in my ‘Movies’ section reads “No Items to Display” when in fact there are collections that have been created. I can view the collections on my laptop as well as on the iOS app. Can’t pinpoint exactly when the ‘Collections’ tab stopped working because I was using Plex without a PlexPass and assumed the ‘Collections’ function was not available w/o the pass. They had previously worked when I trialed the PlexPass. The collections do however appear in-line in my Movie library, and can filter by collections, but not having the dedicated tab is a bit of a pain. To clarify, when I say ‘Collections’ tab, i mean the one that resides at the top ribbon that reads “Recommended, Library, Collections”. What am I missing? Is there a setting I’m missing or is this a software glitch? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Sounds to me like it’s a software glitch… You could try clearing cache and data from the plex app on the Shield Pro, then re-sign in and setup your homescreen again and see if the collections re-appear.
Thanks for your prompt response. By clearing the cache and app data, would I also end up deleting my preferences, custom art, collections, etc.? Would this all need to be redone, or is it backed up somewhere (e.g. cloud, or on my external hard drives where the media is stored)? Sorry, I’m a bit of a noob.
if you clear it for just the plex app (not the plex media server) all of the custom posters and your collections information should be in tact. Those files are hosted in the database of the plex server. So if you do uninstall the server, or you delete the database for the server (clear data on the Plex Media Server) you’ll lose it. But nothing will be lost if you’re just doing the Plex app.
Sorry man, I got nothin… If you cleared cache and data on the Plex app, and then re-signed into the Plex app, that’s as good as uninstalling and reinstalling the app in most cases. May want to wait till someone else can chime in. @TeknoJunky perhaps, he’s pretty good with things Shield related.
