The collections feature is great. I do have a big issue. The Avengers movie series which has very large collection. I want to have within the Avengers collection all the current movies (22) . I noticed inside the Collection you can sort for Collection Mode - Show this collection and it’s items. which will show the collection and the movies in the library. Then under collection order my only two selections are Release Date and Alphabetical. Here is my dilemma. I want the shows to be in the order to watch. So I can mod the Sort Tile to achieve this. However this also modifies the main movie library to the same sort criteria. I want the movies to in the Library by the movie title. I can’t seem to get past this issue except by having an internal Collection sort list that doesn’t use the movie sort title. Is there a current way of getting past my collection and Library sorting dilemma?
I don’t know what this means.
order to watch is the order of the movie series which is different than the release date of the movies.
Example of the watch order:
1 Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace (1999)
2 Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones (2002)
3 Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005)*
4 Untitled Han Solo Star Wars Anthology Film (2018)
5 Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016)
6 Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope (1977)
7 Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back (1980)
8 Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi (1983)
9 Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015)
10 Star Wars: Episode VIII (2017)
I solve that problem quite simply by changing the “Sort title” to what I want and then sorting the collection by name.
For Star Wars I use sort titles like “Star Wars 01.0” for “Star Wars Episode 1 The Phantom Menace.” The first two digits are for the major films and the place after the decimal point is for releases that appear that go between major releases like “Rouge One” for which I use “Star Wars 03.5” to get it in between the correct episodes and still leave a bit of room for others.
yeah, i also do what @Elijah_Baley mentions
Yea using the sort edits will put them into the order you want. that still doesn’t put the “movie name” in the correct library sort only follows the sort title so Rogue One would not be places on the “R’s” in the Library
I think there’s more which could be handled here, especially when considering multiple seasons of different series which interweave. The primary cases in point are also Marvel TV series (see image):
This isn’t the best example, because there are two separate Marvel continuities here: Fox and Disney. Let’s talk about the Disney one, though:
In terms of continuity, it should be something like:
- Agent Carter Seasons 1 & 2
- Agents of SHIELD Seasons 1-3
- Inhumans
- Agents of SHIELD Season 4 part 1-11
- Runaways Season 1
- Agents of SHIELD Season 4 part 12-22 & Season 5
- Cloak & Dagger Season 1
- Agents of SHIELD Season 6 parts 1-11
- Runaways Season 2
Etc
In other words: can we make a “release date” based collection?
Even more ideal would be if TMDb or TVDb would have an in-universe time-stamp for each episode, so you could just sort based on that (which would be just as helpful with the Arrowverse shows).
Sidebar: inow that Disney owns Fox, it’d be great if Legion and The Gifted could be canonised into the MCU, since they won’t necessarily conflict. Geekout moment over.
