Com.plexapp.plugins.library.db growing rapidly – statistics_bandwidth table increasing

Hi,

I’m seeing abnormal growth in Plex’s com.plexapp.plugins.library.db file. It suddenly jumped from ~4 GB to over 11 GB in less than 10 hours, even though no new media was added and Plex had minimal usage.

This Plex VM has been stable for years and usually grows slowly over time, but this sudden spike is not normal.

After investigating, I identified that the issue comes from the statistics_bandwidth table inside the database.

Example:

10:00 AM — statistics_bandwidth: ~946,000 rows
06:00 PM — statistics_bandwidth: ~166,385,000 rows

When I manually cleared this table, the database size went back down to its usual ~4 GB.

:red_question_mark:My questions:

  • What causes statistics_bandwidth to fill up so aggressively?
  • Is this a bug, or is there something in my setup triggering excessive bandwidth tracking?
  • Is there a way to limit or disable this behavior?
  • Is there a proper/official way to manage or rotate the data in statistics_bandwidth?

Any insights would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Xavier
