Commercial skip not scanning imported "TV Shows" library

Basically, as the title states, I have imported an additional library of TV shows into PMS, which plays and is categorized correctly; however, it is never scanned for commercial breaks. Specifically, this was a library which was recorded using Windows Media Center from back in the day, then transcoded with MCEBuddy to HVEC recently and added into it’s own library. Everything is correctly identified and plays as expected with PMS.

So basically, as PMS is concerned, I have two folders imported under “TV Shows”; one is for Plex’s DVR ability, which allows it to read from and modified (recordings). The other folder is the “imported” TV shows from my prior Windows Media Center, which is read only. Everything plays correctly from BOTH folders; however, ONLY the Plex’s DVR folder is scanned for commercial breaks, whereas the other “windows recordings” folder is never scanned, or at least, the commercial breaks never appear.

I’m trying to figure out why this is, as I’ve been recently re-watching my old recordings and would LOVE to be able to skip the commercials as if they were recorded under the native Plex DVR.

As a note, this PMS is installed as a docker container within UNRAID, if that makes any difference. Absolutely any help would be appreciated! Thanks

Some more findings - ComSkip seems to only work for shows actively recorded by Plex, and to which Plex is aware that it recorded. I had a bunch of TV shows/movies which were recorded by Plex and had proper ComSkipping. I moved those to another media folder (outside of Plex) but were still mapped to the appropriate media shares. They lost their ComSkip ability even after rescanning them. So it seems that ComSkip only works on media recorded by Plex, to which it is aware that it recorded itself.

Is there a way to use commercial skipping on ALL media, regardless of where it originated from?

Comskip needs read and write access to the tv directory and may need execute. If Debug logging is active on the server there will be references in the “Plex Media Server.log” file.
Non-recorded shows are only processed during the maintenance window and if the Library is set to process all shows not just recorded.
