I regularly add new recordings almost daily to the TV library.
The problem I’m having is there is no way to prioritize the plex task scanner to do the newer files first.
I’ve looked at the logs and it’s constantly wasting resources processing very old shows instead.
It would seem like a no-brainer that the scheduled tasks should prioritize the newer added shows first instead of running on shows I’ve already watched. At this rate it would take years to catch up. How do I force it to process new files or files of my choice instead?
Otherwise maybe there should be a way for a user to ask Plex to manually kickoff comskip processing on an episode or show? I’ve tried to find a way to manually run the processor via script but it appears that plex has a very convoluted way to get this done manually.
@TheBestHost Possible workaround: Make another library and add new recordings into that library. Once they are processed and you have watched them, you can then move them into your main library (which you don’t have the processing enabled), this will then mean that your old shows don’t get re-processed all the time. I know it’s a pain, but at least it’s a workaround for now.
Hmmm I see where you are going with that. I wouldn’t like to have another tab for shows.
However I’m wondering
If I made another library and then added a recording to the new library. Once it was scanned.
What would happen if I now moved the file over to the folder for my current library.
Would it still use the same skip data since it is exactly the same file?
@TheBestHost Once you move the file into your current library then you will have the same issue you are having already. The only way I can think it would work is by the method I’ve posted until such time that Plex makes changes to the way it works.
I’ve marked it as the response as it worked better than I expected.
For anyone who like me was worried about disruption and having to jump from one library to the next on the app.
But it turns out, that I just added another “TV Shows” library (same name as my original library).
Plex still shows my home screen with all the shows from both libraries seamlessly in newly added / continue watching lists.
The only Caveat is to keep all episodes from a season in the same library. So for my show, season 1 is in the original library, but season 2 is now in this new library and it is getting comskip processed immediately as needed.
