Compilations Section Under Artist?

Greetings all,

I’m starting to rebuild my server from scratch, and I’ve started with some music and it’s already giving me a problem. I’m adding an Evanescence album called “Lost Whispers” that is a compilation of b-sides from some of their other albums. But every song is from them - it’s not a compilation album. There are no other artists.

I want it to just go with all of their other albums, but it’s popping up under “Compilation” on the artist page (see attached picture). Anyone have any idea how to fix this? I’ve used Tag Scanner to edit the metadata and the “part of a compilation” options isn’t checked. Please help!

The album types come from MusicBrainz – there’s no way to change that locally, and it doesn’t depend on the embedded tag at all.

This album is indeed a compilation, as it is a collection of songs that were originally released on other albums. The “compilation” type doesn’t just mean “various artists.” Greatest hits albums for any particular artist is also a compilation.

If you don’t want the album categorization in your library at all, you can turn it off in Library Settings:
