In the wealth of TV shows on my server it is easy to get stuck on just a hand full of shows, and watching more often the same shows then others. Commercial cable and dish providers have a system where they offer certain shows on monday, other series go on tuesday etc.
I just started doing the same on paper to make the media content more controlable. So the plan is a calendar from monday to sunday. Every day I program one or more TV shows. When a season is watched, I can opt to continue with the next season, or I can put another TV show up for one season.
This way it is easier to rotate the shows you have. Ofcourse, all this is is a "Todays suggestion". I can choose to watch a movie, or another show, or nothing at all. But it helps.
I was looking at the Play list function in Plex. But something is missing there. Since today the suggestion would be "TV-show-name s01e01" but next week same day of the week (if s01e01 is marked as watched) s01e02 should be the suggested TV-show. In other words, a kind of "On Deck" but only if the day of the week is correct.
The day of the week could be entered in the TV-show Tags. "On Deck Today" is basically a filter based on the Tags.
